Masala Chai VS Jasmine - Which is the better tea?

Tea is a widespread, commonly known drink; held highly by tradition and culture. We as humans are tea lovers by nature, we can be energized by it and we can be soothed by it, coming in a large span of flavors and tastes no one could ever get tired of. However when it comes to the flavors we’ve never stopped to ask “which is better?”. I have chosen two teas out of our menu: Masala Chai and Jasmine and I am going to judge which is the better tea.

To begin, Jasmine tea is an old classic among teas, being around for centuries it has stabilized itself as an iconic blend of tea leaves. Its brewing process takes around 4 to 6 minutes, making the tea making process quick and simple depending on your method of brewing. The taste of Jasmine tea is nothing to forget either; The tea holds a soft yet floral aroma to its taste, being light and airy but robust. It's a delicious drink to have whenever you’re feeling stressed or worn out from your everyday life, personally I turn to this drink whenever I'm feeling the weight of the world and my responsibilities press down on me. Jasmine tea is undoubtedly a tasty tea choice for anyone to make.

In contrast to Jasmine and its age as one of the most soothing teas in the world, Masala Chai is a different story. Being a blend of spices and herbs such as cinnamon, cardamon, cloves, black pepper and ginger alongside its black tea leaves; Masala Chai is one of the ultimate mixes of tea out there. Unlike Jasmine and its old reaches in history, Masala was carefully crafted and brewed over time, using time in its favor to create its unique flavor and aroma. This brew's taste is nothing to sniff at either; being such a mix of spices and tea leaves, Masala Chai is a robust and almost nutty tasting drink with a kick, a perfect remedy to any cold fall day if you don't have hot cocoa on hand. I’ve tried this drink about a hundred times before and while its brew time of 5 to 7 minutes has you waiting, it's all worthwhile as in the end you are left with a drink that's impossibly delicious.

Comparing these two drinks is like comparing the sun and the moon, a drink with a floral taste versus a drink with a robust flavor. In comparison to Masala Chai, Jasmine tea is a drink to calm your nerves, a drink that will leave you feeling distressed from all the back aching labor of the day. While it can be made hot it can also be made iced, allowing you to enjoy it through any season unlike Masala Chai which is commonly made to be hot. However with Masala Chai you can achieve a body warming feel that Jasmine simply cannot recreate, a healthy alternative to hot cocoa that will heat you up just as fast. While Jasmine is calming in nature, Masala's robust and almost spicy taste will make you feel energized and energized for the day. Despite having a longer brew time then Jasmine, Masala has never brought disappointment and unlike Jasmine it would leave you feeling like you’re on top of the world!

In conclusion, as different as these two drinks are, I believe that if I were to pick one that's better over the other, I'd choose Masala. Being a delicious cocoa alternative and leaving you with an aftertaste like no other I feel that Masala is the choice over Jasmine. Jasmine, while it is calming and soothing does not have the robust power that Masala does and is more fitted for winding down after a long day. Masala is a delicious drink and I will always choose it.
